Robert Capron is an actor best known for his role as Rowley Jefferson, Greg Heffley’s lovable best friend, in the first three Diary of a Wimpy Kid films (2010-2012). His performance as the endearingly naive Rowley earned him widespread recognition and multiple Young Artist Award nominations.
Capron began acting at age eight, debuting as Turkey Boy in Trinity Repertory Company’s A Christmas Carol. He transitioned to film with minor roles in Bride Wars (2009) and Hachi: A Dog’s Tale (2009), followed by a part in Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (2010).
In 2012, he voiced Bob in Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie and appeared as Young Curly in The Three Stooges. Capron played Jake in the indie film Annabelle Hooper and the Ghosts of Nantucket (2015) and portrayed Dave, Jack Black’s son, in The Polka King (2016). On television, he had a recurring role as Mason, one of Sherlock’s “irregulars,” on CBS’s Elementary, and guest-starred on ABC’s The Middle and as a lead in two episodes of R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour.
In 2021, he voiced Rowley again in the animated Diary of a Wimpy Kid TV series and appeared in shorts like Bye Bye Buddy and A Different Kind of Animal.
