Anika Noni Rose

Anika Noni Rose is an acclaimed American actress and singer renowned for her versatile performances across stage, film, and television. She rose to prominence voicing Disney’s Tiana, in The Princess and the Frog (2009), earning her a Disney Legend title in 2011.

Her film credits include Dreamgirls (2006) as Lorrell Robinson, garnering a Grammy nomination for the soundtrack, and For Colored Girls (2010). Other notable films are Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020), Everything, Everything (2017), Half of a Yellow Sun (2013), and Mufasa: The Lion King (2024) as Afia, earning an NAACP Image Award nomination.

On Broadway, Rose won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Caroline, or Change (2004) and received a nomination for A Raisin in the Sun (2014). Her stage credits include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Footloose, Carmen Jones (2018), and Uncle Vanya (2024). She also starred in the New York Philharmonic’s Company.

Her television roles include Regina in Maid (2021), Kizzy in Roots (2016), LaVerne “Jukebox” Ganner in Power, and Eva Fletcher in The Quad (2017-2018). Additional appearances on TV include The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, The Good Wife, Private Practice, Elementary, and Let the Right One In (2022-2023). Rose voiced characters in SuperKitties (2024), Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018), and LEGO Disney Princess: The Castle Quest (2023).
