John Swasey

John began his screen career in the early 1990s, appearing as the Beer Delivery Guy in the cult classic Dazed and Confused (1993). He has additional live-action roles including Jerry in Where the Heart Is (2000), Coach Granger in Friday Night Lights, Customs Agent #1 in Ray (2004), and multiple characters (Derrick, Kyle Wheeler, Steve Darby) across episodes of Walker, Texas Ranger.

Swasey made his voice-acting debut in 1997 as the Director in Golden Boy for ADV Films. He quickly established himself as a go-to talent for authoritative and complex characters, delivering memorable performances across major anime productions from Funimation, Sentai Filmworks, and other studios.

His most iconic roles include Gendo Ikari in Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Rebuild of Evangelion films, Van Hohenheim in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Lord Death in Soul Eater, Sir Crocodile in the Funimation dub of One Piece, and All For One in My Hero Academia. He also voiced the lead role of Kumatetsu (The Beast) in the acclaimed feature The Boy and the Beast (2015).

Swasey's further credits include Undertaker in Black Butler, Hades in Fairy Tail, Zachary in Attack on Titan, Daisuke Aramaki in Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie, and Dodoria in multiple Dragon Ball projects. Swasey continues to contribute to ongoing anime series, films, and games, building a reputation as one of the industry’s most prolific and versatile character actors.
